How to care for your Ecosapin after Christmas?

our tips to keep it in great shape

The holidays are over, but your tree can continue to beautify your garden, your terrace, or your balcony. With a few simple actions, it can naturally resume its growth and accompany you for many years.

Gradually put it outside

After spending time indoors, your tree needs to return to the outdoors without thermal shock. First, place it for a few days in a cool, sheltered spot, then put it outside.

Avoid leaving it too long in a heated room: the heat dries out its needles and can weaken it.

Water regularly

A potted tree needs slightly moist soil, especially during the first weeks after Christmas.

  • Check the soil regularly: it should never dry out completely.
  • Water moderately, without letting water stagnate in the saucer or pot cover.
  • During freezing periods, water only when the soil has thawed.

Good drainage is essential: the roots do not like to have their feet in water.

Choose the right location

The tree enjoys a bright spot, ideally semi-shaded, sheltered from strong winds. Avoid very hot areas or those exposed to afternoon sun, especially on a terrace.

If your fir tree stays in a pot, make sure the container is sufficiently large. Over the years, repotting into a larger pot will give it the space it needs to develop its roots.

Protect it from the cold

Firs are naturally resistant to winter, but their roots are more vulnerable when they are in a pot. In case of severe frost, protect the pot with a winter cover, burlap, or an insulating material.

You can also slightly elevate the pot to insulate it from the cold ground.

When to plant it in the ground?

If you have a garden, planting in the ground is a nice option. Wait until the soil is no longer frozen and choose a location where your fir will have enough space to grow.

Dig a hole wider than the root ball, place the fir at the same depth it was in its pot, gently pack the soil, and then watter generously. During the first year, pay particular attention to w watering during dry periods.

A fir for a long time

Keeping your fir after Christmas extends the holiday spirit while making a concrete gesture for nature. With water, a little protection, and the right location, your fir can thrive season after season.

Take care of it today: it could become the grand fir of your next Christmases.
